Gator targets rise and fall in latest Rivals100
The Rivals100 has been to the University of Florida lately. Over the last three signing classes, on their way to top three rankings each year, the Gators have signed almost 8 players a year off the list - 23 total. With only five commitments to date, the Gators only have one current committed player included on the list, but there's still several targets they are actively recruiting listed on the most prestigious recruiting ranking in the process.
Florida's run to the top of the team recruiting rankings began by signing six Rivals100 members in the class of 2006. The Gators turned right around and almost doubled that number the very next year, when they signed eleven off the list in 2007. Then last year the UF staff once again inked six players off of the list.
This year's lone Rivals100 commitment, Quincy (Fla.) West Gadsden lineman Gary Brown was shuffled down a couple of spots from No. 71 to No. 78.
Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Barry Every says Brown's stock hasn't dropped.
"Gary Brown did not move down within his position (he is still ranked as the 6th best defensive tackle). Eight kids moved into the Rivals100 that were evaluated in the last period that nothing to do with Gary Brown. I do not see Gary Brown as a drop I see the other kids as a move up."
