Matthews has family ties to several programs
Being the son of an NFL Hall of Fame offensive lineman is likely to get a player noticed, and that is just the case with Missouri City (TX) Elkins offensive tackle Jake Matthews. However, even though his father Bruce Matthews passed on his genes to his son, the younger Matthews is worthy of the attention even without the famous last name.
The 6-foot05, 275-pound junior has received two written offers already, with more likely on the way.
"Right now, I have two written offers," Matthews said. "I got one from Stanford and then I just got one from Arkansas. I've talked to (Texas) A&M and I think that one is supposed to be on the way from them as well. My brother (current Aggie starting center Kevin Matthews), he said they'd be officially offering me soon.
"The Arkansas one really kind of came out of the blue, but Stanford has kind of been talking to me for a while. I've been getting letters and stuff from them."
