Following the Future: Trojan Targets
This Friday, the playmakers were in San Diego.
While USC junior commit Dillon Baxter threw for 330-yards and four touchdowns in his first start as a quarterback for Mission Bay, Cathedral Catholic running back Tyler Gaffney erupted on both sides of the ball.
Gaffney, who is rumored to have USC and Stanford as his top two college choices, ran for 324 yards and six touchdowns on 33 carries Friday night. Known for being tremendously versatile, the 6-foot-1, 215-pound four-star standout also had four receptions for 43 yards.
If that wasn't enough, Gaffney had an interception on defense.
"He's physically the best back I've ever had," Cathedral Catholic head coach Sean Doyle told the San Diego Union-Tribune. Doyle also coached Justin Green of the Baltimore Ravens and Demetrius Sumler of the Colorado Buffaloes in high school.
On the year, Gaffney has 1,072 yards and 24 touchdowns.
