Tebow makes a big push in final Heisman Poll
The phrase, "what have you done for me lately," is not one that Longhorn fans want to see right now. In the past few weeks Texas fans have seen Oklahoma surpass them in the BCS polls because of big late season wins against Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Missouri, at it looks like Colt McCoy playing his last game of the season 14 days before the Heisman votes are due may cost him the trophy.
What was thought to be a two-man race only a week ago, has become a razor-thin three-person fight after Florida quarterback Tim Tebow's outstanding performance in the SEC championship game over number one Alabama.
Tebow has made a big jump in the rankings this week, gaining 35 points, as many voters changed their vote after the game on Saturday.
For Longhorn fans hoping to see McCoy receive the trophy this weekend, they have to hope that voters aren't swayed by what Tebow has done lately, but instead look at the body of work by each player all season.
As Heisman voter Harry King said Tuesday in the Arkansas News Bureau, "What Tebow did for Florida against Alabama, McCoy did all year for Texas."
Of the 43 voters we polled this week, 17 have Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford first on their ballots, with McCoy and Tebow close behind with 13 and 12 first place votes respectively.
We use the Heisman scoring system, all ballots had three names on them and we scored on a 3-2-1 scoring system.
