Phifer not looking around
Virginia Beach (Va.) Landstown running back Sterlin Phifer heard the news of coach Jeff Jagodzinski about the same time as everyone else, and he anticipated it would happen earlier in the week. How has the decision affected him?
The 5-foot-11, 205-pound running back committed to BC despite holding an offer from NC State and has remained solid since the summer.
While Phifer would undoubtedly draw interest, and perhaps more offers, if he were to re-open the recruiting process, that's not what he plans on doing right now. For the time being he seems pretty confident that those in charge will make the right decisions.
"I had known it was going to happen for the past couple of days," Phifer explained in a recent interview with EagleAction.com. "My recruiting coach, coach Siravo, has been updating me so it wasn't anything new to me.
"I knew (Jagodzinski) was going to leave or get fired so I wasn't too surprised when it happened. They're going to try to hire a coach fast so I'll see what happens.
"I'm pretty much solid."
Phifer said he had a good relationship with Jagodzinski but also had good ties with coach Siravo.
"I want to wait and see who they hire, of course," he continued. "That will determine a lot.
"I haven't really been trying to get in touch with other schools lately so I'm not thinking about that. That's not really on my mind."
