Aggies get a surprise at a need position
For four years, Texas A&M utilized the big leg of punter Justin Brantly to get the Aggies out of tight spots. Brantly often delivered during his career at A&M, averaging 45.71 yards per kick his senior year and earning All-Big 12 honors in the process.
With Brantly's departure, the A&M staff began to weigh in on several alternatives to replace him that were already on campus, incuding starting placekicker Randy Bullock. But A&M also looked at kickers available in the 2009 recruiting class such as Keller Fossil Ridge's Chris Boswell, who eventually signed with Rice, and offered them an opportunity to walk on and obtain a scholarship with the 2010 recruiting class.
Now A&M looks to have finally found its man and ironically enough it didn't even have to leave Keller to do so. A national letter-of-intent from Keller punter Ryan Epperson rolled across the fax machine in the Bright Complex early this morning and few people are more excited than Keller head coach Kevin Atkinson.
