Team Palm Beach 7on7
Mark Stampini
PantherRage.com We hit the road Saturday to check out Team Palm Beach as they got ready for their upcoming 7 on 7 tournament in Tampa, FL. Here are some of the top performers on the team.
Greg Dent - cornerback/wide receiver - Glades Central
The 6 foot, 180-pound Dent can make impact on offense or defense. He was probably the top corner back today. Look for his recruitment to pick up this spring.
Travis Bell - safety - Glades Central
The 6 foot 2, 190-pound Bell already looks like a college safety. Bell runs well and covered a lot of ground playing center field in the defense today.
Merrill Noel - cornerback - Pahokee
Noel is not the tallest player at about 5 foot 8, 170-pounds but he can fly. He is put together well and looked good in one on ones today.
Robert Clark - cornerback - Dwyer
The 5 foot 10, 175-pound Clark looked good in the 7 on 7 portion of practice as he was right there with Dent for the honor of top corner. He broke up a couple of long passes with excellent coverage.
Gerald Christian - tight end - Dwyer
The physically imposing 6 foot 3, 230-pound Christian made a couple of nice grabs showing nice hands in the one on one portion of practice.
Chris Dunkley - wide receiver - Royal Palm Beach
Dunkley was late in arriving for the practice and it took him awhile to get going. He showed good speed once he got warmed up in get free deep in one on ones.
De'Joshua Johnson - wide receiver - Pahokee
Johnson struggled early in one on ones as Travis Bell got physical with him and wouldn't allow him to get off the line. However, later on he adjusted and caught a long TD were he showed off blazing speed. Danny Meyer - tight end - Jupiter Christian
Meyer was maybe the surprise performer of the day as he caught everything in his area. He is a very solid high school player and is fundamentally sound.
Fred Pickett - wide receiver - Pahokee
Pickett showed off his versatility picking off a pass in the scrimmage portion and returning it for a touchdown.
Antwon Chisholm - running back/corner back - Glades Central
Running backs don't really get to standout in a 7 on 7 event. Chisholm has great speed and worked some at corner back where he was solid.
Other players at practice today were Marshyl Rothman quarterback Jupiter Christian, Leron Thomas quarterback Glades Central, Darius Millines wide receiver/safety Delray Beach American Heritage, and Will Powers linebacker Jupiter Christian.
