TCU on top for Williams
With the commitment of Cy-Creek's Cameron Fleming recently, the Frogs are looking for one more offensive tackle to close out that position for the 2010 class. They have honed in on their most desired prospect at that position and it looks like the feelings are mutual. PurpleMenace.Com caught up with Corinth, Tx, Lake Dallas high's, Daryl Williams to get the latest on his recruitment.
"It's going really good right now" said Williams. "I'm up to five offers and I'm enjoying it."
At 6'5" and 270 pounds, Williams is one of the most athletic linemen in the state of Texas. With offers on the table from schools like TCU, Missouri, Kansas, Texas Tech and Baylor, there's no shortage of suitors for the talented big man. Although it's early in the process, are there any teams that are standing out to williams at this time?
"Yes sir" said Williams. "TCU is really standing out to me right now."
So what is it about the Frogs that has caught the Lake Dallas linemen's attention?
"It's mainly their academics" he said. "I like how their football players graduate and get their degree even if they don't make it to the NFL."
This seems to be a common theme lately with recruits that are considering TCU. With an 86% graduation rate for their football players, TCU offers prospects a chance for a good living even if football doesn't take each one of them to "the league". It looks like the message is getting through to many of them. With academics clearly the most important aspect of his decision, has Williams decided what he'll major in once on campus?
"I'm thinking about majoring in psychology right now but I'm not real sure" said Williams. "I think that's what I want to do but I'm not totally sure yet."
With five offers currntly in hand, are there any other schools that look like they might be close to offering?
"I've been hearing a little from Nebraska and Alabama but they haven't offered yet" said Williams. "TCU is on top for me right now but I'm probably going to wait a little while before I make my decision."
A little while being before his senior year starts or does he plan on waiting until closer to signing day?
"I'm not sure" he said. "I'll probably decide sometime during my senior year, I'm just going to take my time and make a good choice."
With TCU out in front for his commitment, what do the Frogs have to do to stay there?
"I don't know really" said Williams. "I just really like them and when I was there for the junior day, everything was just really nice. I'm just going to take my time and see how everything goes."
With 4 commitments already in the fold, the Frogs are in the process of trying to decide who the final 12 to 13 prospects will be to close out the 2010 class. Stay tuned to PurpleMenace.Com for the latest on Daryl Williams' recruitment and for all things Horned Frog related.
