The first day the players dressed out in full pads also marked the team's first full scrimmage of spring practice.
A more experienced offense used a balanced combination of run and pass to effectively move the football throughout the scrimmage. The trio of Jermaine Thomas, Ty Jones and Marcus Sims ran well and racked up approximately 100 rushing yards on the day. Meanwhile, quarterback Christian Ponder was efficient throwing the football completing 7-of-15 for 145 yards.
"I loved the intensity, I loved the aggressiveness," offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher said. "Of course we made some mistakes here and there. For the most part I liked what we were doing. Like I say, a few plays you wish you had back, you try to make but that is kind of where you expect to be right now. Get the kinks out but I love the intensity. I love the effort. I like the direction we are going, thought I saw some good things out there."
