First practice in the books
UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel had a reason to feel good about his team's first day of practice. Take away the usual rust and things of that nature, which every team goes through during the early days of camp, and you have to be really happy with the effort the team put forth in its opening stanza.
The players were feisty and there were some blows, but that is a good thing because let's you that they care. It is also an indicator that there is competition and that is something all Bruin fans welcome.
Neuheisel: "I'm excited about the way things started. Our guys are eager, they're energetic, we're going to look at the tape and in shorts it is difficult to know exactly, who won and who lost today, but we're going to look at the tape and see a whole bunch of mistakes, but when they come out here eager like that, it makes you feel good about your team and so we are excited about day one, looking forward to day two and especially day three when we get the pads on."
