Offer comes through for Easterly
The last time BadgerBlitz.com caught up with Daniel Easterly, the 2010 prospect had a gut feeling an offer was on the way from Bret Bielema and the Wisconsin Badgers.
Fast-forward one month and Easterly has finally seen that come to fruition.
Tuesday night, the 6-foot-4, 178-pounder took some time to speak about his most recent offer.
"Yes, sir, I just received an official scholarship offer from Wisconsin," said the Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech prospect. "It feels great. Coach (DelVaughn) Alexander is my main contact. We've talked on the phone a couple times, but our contact has mainly been through e-mails.
"They really want me. I am extremely interested in their school because they have a great engineering program. I plan on taking a trip to Madison during my spring break. We've been talking about a potential offer over the phone and e-mail. So it was a relief when it finally arrived in the mail."
Now holding offers from Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Toledo, Easterly admittedly has struck up a solid relationship with UW's wide receivers coach.
"Oh man, we're really tight," said Easterly. "I speak with him (Alexander) a lot. I make sure to stay in contact with him on regular basis. We have a great relationship."
With the summer just around the corner, expect to see some other schools enter the race for Easterly. Other programs currently showing interest are Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Hawaii.
"I'm interested in any school who is interested in me," he said. "If you give me a look, I'll be sure to do the same."
As a junior, Easterly had three interceptions, 15 break-ups and four fumble recoveries.
Though listed as an athlete, Wisconsin is recruiting Easterly as a defensive back.
