Hill decides about playing two sports
When you are a talented basketball and football player a lot people assume you will want to play both sports in college. Stephen Hill will arrive on Georgia Tech's campus as a freshman wide receiver on June 16 and he has figured out if he is going to play basketball in addition to football.
"I really want to put all my focus into football for my freshman year," Hill said. "I have always played two or three sports at a time and I have never had the chance to focus on just one sport. If coach Paul Johnson will let me play basketball I might consider it in the future."
The six-foot-five 200-pound wide receiver is hoping to get into the receiver rotation immediately and feels like he needs to pay more attention to football.
"I love the spring game and watching them throw the ball around a lot more," he said. "I want to stick myself in the lineup. My focus is going in and playing right away. I want to get on the field and get a feel for the speed of the college game."
Academically, Hill is right on track and has no obstacles ahead from the NCAA Clearinghouse.
"I will be there June 16 and there are no hiccups, everything is fine," he said.
Hill spent the later part of senior year at Miller Grove High School in Lithonia working on his conditioning and not worrying about bulking up for the grind of the season.
"I want to get bigger and stronger, but I am leaving that up to the Georgia Tech staff," he said. "I know I am going to get bigger and I want to go through their program when I do it."
The aspirations Hill has for his tenure with the Yellow Jackets are very high and he hopes one day to compare to one of Georgia Tech's greatest players.
"I aspire to play like a NFL player. I want to play like Calvin Johnson. I got the same height and speed and I want to be like him or even better."
