USC senior safety Will Harris knows what it takes to be a leader. Playing behind Kevin Ellison, a captain on last year's team, for a number of seasons provided him with a blueprint.

The rest was instinctual.

And Harris' instincts told him he made a big-time mistake this spring.

"I wasn't going to a dance class. I thought I could just take the grade or whatever," Harris said. "I took things for granted. I didn't do the things I needed to do."
