Oregon taking hard look at RB
Jackson Williams
Duck Sports Authority Thunder. It's how Dontae Williams plays and it's half of the running combination the Ducks are looking for in this year's recruiting class. With his size, strength and speed, Williams could be the heir apparent to Jonathan Stewart and LeGarrette Blount in the Oregon backfield.
Williams is a 5' 11", 205lb. running back from Aldine High in Houston, Texas and the 10th rated back in the nation this year according to Rivals. If that school rings a bell it's because he's from the same school as Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas. The Oregon coaches are trying to make happen. One of the nation's best backs commented on what Thomas has told him about the Ducks.
"He told me the coaches really look after the players and get the most of out of them. He's talked about the facilities and how the coaches take care of him too. He knows my situation and he was relating it to me and saying that if I came to Oregon it would be like my second family and I'd feel right at home. Right now the coaches aren't allowed to call me. I've been real busy so I didn't have time to get in touch with them. But I did talk with Coach Campbell a few weeks ago. We had a conversation about how school was going and some things. He's the guy I talk to."
This is a dead period though. Coaches can't contact players right now and Williams doesn't have an offer yet from the Ducks. "The last time I talked to them they said they wanted to see more film to see how consistent I am. So once they see more film then it could happen I think," said Williams.
