Teammates not surprised by Bell's great debut
EAST LANSING - Will Gholston came to Michigan State as the highest rated incoming freshman in the Big Ten at No. 21 overall in the Class of 2011. Le'Veon Bell, one the other hand, was one of the least heralded recruits in Mark Dantonio's fourth recruiting class.
During spring football Gholston got a chance to see what Bell was all about.
"I came in during spring ball and he was already very explosive from the jump," explained Gholston. "I saw him do the game juke where he takes just one step and you see a guy fall. That just amazed me and I knew that he was going to be an explosive player and do big things for us. Before I took my first snap as a Michigan State Spartan I knew that he had a lot of potential."
During the season opener, the sellout crowd of 75,769 at Spartan Stadium got their first look at the running back that made a believer out of Gholston months earlier.
