5-star DT to visit Tuscaloosa
The University of Alabama is expecting another Rivals.com 5-star to be on campus this week as elite defensive lineman Eddie Goldman has plans to visit Tuscaloosa on Tuesday.
Goldman, a 6-foot-4, 307-pound native of Washington D.C., has over 50 scholarship offers already but is looking to narrow his list down to 10 or 15 schools by the end of May.
This week, while on his spring break, Goldman is scheduled to visit Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Georgia. His head coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim says Goldman's recruitment is wide open, but that an unofficial visit to a school shows he's interested.
"He's wide open right now," Abdul-Rahim said. "I couldn't even tell you who's high and who's low, but we're taking an unofficial visit to (Tuscaloosa), so that means something."
Abdul Rahim, the head coach at Friendship Collegiate Academy, says the UA coaching staff has been on Goldman for a while now and has made him a priority for their 2012 recruiting class.
"Alabama's interest level is extremely high, Abdul-Rahim said. "I think he's a top priority for them this year. Coach Sal Sunseri has been real engaged in the process. He's been recruiting Eddie since the start of last football season."
For Goldman, these upcoming visits may go a long way in determining which schools make his list of favorites because the university and the campus itself are just as important to him as the football team.
"I think the most important part of recruiting to him is just seeing himself at the school," Abdul-Rahim said. "He wants to go to an elite type of school, but that elite can change so much in college football. It's difficult to choose a school off the previous year.
"The coach's scheme is important to him, and just the environment, the facilities and how he sees himself on campus."
Goldman visited Clemson and North Carolina last week.
