Video: Dell, FH Harrison cruise into D3 final
SOUTH LYON, Mich - Facing double and even triple coverage throughout Saturday's Division 3 semifinal game against Fowlerville, Farmington Hills Harrison senior Mark Dell didn't get many opportunities to catch passes.
But Harrison's record-setting receiver did all of the little things necessary to lift his team into next Saturday's Division 3 title game with East Grand Rapids. For instance, Dell threw one of two de-cleater blocks that freed teammate Dan Sirovy for an 86-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Those double and triple teams faced by Dell also freed up teammates Calvin Mann and Norman Shuford to make touchdown grabs during Farmington Hills Harrison's 41-7 running-clock rout of a young Fowlerville football team.
"We haven't hit our peak yet and we won't until the final," said Dell. "But this team has a real good vibe going and when I am getting double teamed, other guys step up. That is what I like about this team. We have great camaraderie and we stick together."
With the win, Dell and his teammates are one victory away from claiming the 13th football championships for Farmington Hills Harrison, which is currently tied with now closed St. Martin dePorres for the most football championships in Michigan High School Athletic Association history at 12.
"It is hard to talk about right now, it is overwhelming," said Dell, who was mobbed by family, friends, and Harrison fans on the field at South Lyon after his team's victory. "We worked this entire year and fought for the right to play at Ford Field."
