Tigers developing more young talent
Auburn has redshirted a lot of freshmen the last few seasons including 34 in the previous two classes. But the 2007 class, which started at AU this summer, has been the exception.
So far, 15 true freshmen have played from the '07 class including several taking on key roles like offensive lineman Lee Ziemba, safety Mike McNeil and kicker Wes Byrum.
That leaves just eight scholarship freshmen redshirting this fall. A small number but still a talented bunch according to offensive coordinator Al Borges, who likes what he's seen out of wide receiver Quindarius Carr, tight end Bailey Woods, fullback John Douglas and offensive linemen Jared Cooper and Kyle Coulahan.
"Every one of those guys will contribute to Auburn football," said Borges. "Every one of them has shown that they're able to play in the SEC."
Carr was the closest of the group to playing this season.
