Five questions facing Tiger basketball
The Missouri Tigers open their basketball season, at least unofficially, with the Black and Gold game on Tuesday night at Mizzou Arena. PowerMizzou.com takes an early look at the Tigers with five questions that will shape their season.
Can Leo Lyons make the leap?
No one questions Lyons' talent. The kid has an NBA body without a doubt. But he flat out disappears about half the time. He has admitted, and many of his teammates said, that he took coaching too personally last season and just didn't have his head right. If the Tigers are going to be as good as they hope they can be this season, Lyons has to be a much more consistent player.
Is DeMarre Carroll as good as we think?
Carroll has looked, at most times, like the best player on the roster since his transfer. Now, can he take that over to the games and shake off the rust of more than a year without playing in a game? The Tigers are going to need his muscle, his scoring and his leadership, not necessarily in that order.
