Sooners Clear Up 5-Star Problem
A little over a week ago it seemed that Oklahoma and the nation's No. 5 linebacker, Corey Nelson of Dallas Skyline, were heading in different directions. The 6-foot, 210-pound player with five-star aspirations made comments to some over a concern about lackluster attention from the Sooner coaching staff.
For most everyone Oklahoma's perceived lack of interest was baffling as the Sooners had offered Nelson early and he had been part of a much-talked about moment on regional television in which he made a downward horn hand gesture.
Nelson had since been in contact with linebackers coach, and defensive coordinator, Brent Venables to find some answers to the problem.
It seems the problems were erased even before Nelson took a trip to Norman last weekend for Oklahoma's annual Red-White game.
"I had a great time actually. I loved the spring game, I loved the whole atmosphere," Nelson said. "The way it was set up. I liked everything."
