---North Carolina fell to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the ACC. The Tar Heels had beaten Duke in the previous eight meetings and in 21 of the previous 22 games.
---It was Carolina's first loss in Durham since the Blue Devils won, 35-29, in 1988.
---The 30 points is the most ever scored by the Tar Heels in a loss to Duke. The previous high was 29 in the 1988 defeat, the last time UNC lost on the Blue Devils' home field.
---Carolina has scored 27 (at Wake Forest), 34 (at Louisville) and 30 (at Duke) points in its three losses this season.
---Eric Ebron set the single-season UNC record for receiving yards by a tight end with 467. He had five receptions tonight for 68 yards. The previous record of 448 was set by Mike Chatham in 1979.
---Sophomore tailback Giovani Bernard was the game's leading rusher with 24 carries for 143 yards and a touchdown. He also had five catches for 68 yards and scored on a 4-yard fumble recovery after a fourth quarter pass reception by Erik Highsmith.
---It was Bernard's third consecutive game with at least 100 yards rushing. He had a career-high 262 vs. Virginia Tech and 189 at Miami prior tonight's game against the Blue Devils. He passed the 2,000-yard mark for his career (2,048) and is now 11th in Carolina history in rushing yards. He passed Ken Willard (1,949) and Curtis Johnson (1,999) with tonight's performance.
---Bernard has rushed for 795 yards in six games, an average of 132.5 per contest.
---Bernard has scored 12 touchdowns in six games this year and has 26 in 19 collegiate games.
---Quarterback Bryn Renner was 19 for 32 for 198 yards and two touchdowns. He passed Ronald Curry for third place in UNC history in passing yards with 5,128.
---Place kicker Casey Barth made three field goals and three extra points, extending his career school record for made field goals to 64. Carolina has made 157 consecutive extra points, including a school-record 119 in a row by Barth. Barth made three field goals today. It is the first time he has booted three field goals this season and the first time since the NC State game (4) in 2010.
---Offensive guard Jonathan Cooper started his 43rd career game Saturday, most among active offensive linemen in the ACC.
