Western Michigan picked up a huge commitment Wednesday as the eighth-ranked all-purpose back in the nation, Daryl Chestnut, committed to play for P.J. Fleck and the Broncos.
Chestnut, a former Texas Tech commit, is among the highest ranked commitments in the MAC this year, and with a Rivals Rating of 5.7, is on the cusp of a four-star status. He is also the highest-rated running back recruit in WMU history according to Rivals.com.
Though he was slated to visit West Virginia this coming weekend, HawgSports.com reported via Twitter that Chestnut has cancelled that visit per his head coach, signifying that his recruitment is likely done completely.
In addition to his all-purpose back ranking, the 5-foot-9, 190 pound Chestnut is rated as the 52nd best player in the state of Florida. He had offers from 12 schools including Florida State, Indiana, Kansas State, Kentucky, N.C. State, Texas Tech, and West Virginia.
BroncoBlitz.com is in the process of setting up a full interview with Chestnut, and will have much more on this as the story develops.
