December 4, 2003Throughout the month of December, Rivals100.com will update s regional player rankings and first up on the list is the Midlands Sweet 66.
There wasn't much change at the top of the ranking as the nation's No. 1 player, Adrian Peterson (right) of Palestine, Texas, also remains ranked as the top player in the Midlands. There was some movement throughout the list as players' senior seasons improved or declined their stock.
But still at the top of the list of players from Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Texas is Peterson. The best running back to come out of Texas in years, showed why he's the best with a senior season that racked up more than 2,900 yards on the ground.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Peterson has Oklahoma at the top of his list, along with Arkansas, Miami, USC, UCLA and Texas.
No. 2 on the list is Rhett Bomar of Grand Prairie, Texas. He's followed by Jeff Byers of Loveland, Colo., Franklin Okam of Richardson, Texas and Lance Leggett of Arlington, Texas. All players in the top five are five star prospects and ranked as franchise players by Rivals.com.
The Texas Longhorns have 13 commitments on the Midlands Sweet 66. The highest ranked Longhorn commitment is safety Andrew Kelson at the safety spot. However, offensive lineman Cedric Dockery and receiver George Walker are both ranked in the top 20.
Oklahoma is second on the list with commitments from six players on the list. The highest ranked is Bomar.
Texas A&M only has three commitments on the list, but all three of the players are ranked in the top 15 of the ranking.
Miami has raided the Midlands Region this year and has commitments from four players on the list. Oklahoma State has commits from three, Colorado, Nebraska and Texas Tech have two commitments on the list, and Kansas State, Missouri, LSU and USC have one pledge on the list.
