Fall Depth Chart Projection: 3rd string weak-side linebacker
Spring Review: He has added some weight since last year, but other than that, there wasn't much to report on as far as his spring performance. It isn't as though he had a terrible or even bad spring, because he didn't. His problem is he really didn't do anything to stand out either. There's no legitimate reason to think that he was going to compete for a starting position against upperclassmen such as Ryan Stamper and Dustin Doe, that isn't the problem. The problem is. when you are part of a team that is loaded with talent, if you're not moving up, you're automatically moving down. There is no standing still.
Depending on the status of Doe, there's at least one (Stamper), maybe two (add Doe) and depending on whether or not Jelani Jenkins is as good as advertised, perhaps even three players ahead of him on the weak-side. That likely means that McCray will spend another season contributing mostly on special teams.
