Egg Bowl Preview

At 6 p.m. a countdown clock inside No. 25 Mississippi State's locker room in Starkville will strike 0:00.

Two hours north the Bulldogs will begin defending their Golden Egg Trophy against rival Ole Miss at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

MSU dominated the 2009 matchup winning 41-27 over the Rebels. The Bulldogs chewed up 317 yards on the ground in that game led by 133 yards by former running back Anthony Dixon and 131 yards and three touchdowns by quarterback Chris Relf.

State enters today's game with a 7-4 overall record and a 3-4 mark inside the Southeastern Conference while the Rebels are on the reverse end with a 4-7 mark and a 1-6 league record.

But Ole Miss does have the home field advantage in its favor. The home team has won 10 of the last 11 games in the series including six straight. The Rebels also hold the series edge 60-40-6 including a 21-10-3 mark in Oxford.

Mississippi State has a 10-9 record in the series since the schools returned to campus sites in 1991.
