McDaniel attracts attention

East Carolina, NC State, North Carolina and Wake Forest have offered Fayetteville (NC) Jack Britt wide receiver Jalen McDaniel a scholarship, and more schools appear close to pulling the trigger after he posted an impressive performance at the Rivals/VTO NC Elite 100 Combine in Charlotte.

The 6-foot-2, 188-pound McDaniel, who was ranked eighth on Rivals.com's Mike Farrell's list of top skill position performers at the one-day event, plans to visit Clemson, NC State, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech.

McDaniel told Rivals.com's Keith Niebuhr he predicts Clemson and Virginia Tech may offer next.

Along with the Tigers, Wolpack, Tar Heels and Hokies the Demon Deacons are showing the most interest in McDaniel.

He has not given any of the schools an edge.

Lonnie Galloway is pursuing McDaniel for Wake.

"He's a pretty cool guy and I like him a lot [and] I can't wait to go back [to Wake Forest]," McDaniel said.

He plans to attend the Nike Combine.

McDaniel caught 33 passes for 529 yards and three touchdowns in Jack Britt's run to the fourth round of the state playoffs and an 11-3 finish.
