Rams commitment doesn't mind the cold
After listening to Colorado State commitment Crockett Gillmore, it is tough to believe the young man is anything but a solid commitment to the Colorado State football team. Gillmore, a 6-foot-6, 226-pound tight end from Bushland, Tex. said he isn't taking any more visits and didn't mind the cold weather during his visit to Fort Collins last week.
"I liked everything about it," Gillmore said. "I liked the school. It was a little bit cold, but it didn't bother me too much. If it is cold, it is going to be cold. I liked the coaches and I liked the team."
Gillmore was hosted by his former high school teammate and current CSU freshman offensive tackle Weston Richburg. While Gillmore said he and Richburg are friends, he is coming to CSU for reasons other than Richburg.
"We talked about it and really, we both decided we are going to be where ever we are going to be. He is like the guys I want on my team. He works hard," Gillmore said.
This season Gillmore has 20 catches for 600 yards and 10 touchdowns for Bushland High School, adding that he has gained 20-25 pounds since last year, as well as newfound speed and strength. The result has been his phone ringing from schools like Oklahoma, Missouri, UTEP and New Mexico. However, Gillmore said he has made his decision and plans to stand by it.
"There are some other schools that are trying to recruit me, but I am not taking any other visits," Gillmore said. "I think after each game another college realizes I can play. It doesn't matter because I am going to Colorado State."
That feeling hasn't changed since getting to see the Rams in person last weekend. While Gillmore enjoyed the Rams, he also appreciate the CSU offensive line's effort and tenacity.
"Just getting to watch the team play in person was a highlight," Gillmore said. "I think they have the best line in the country from what I see. That is the best thing. I think those guys are great at downfield blocking."
