White gives a time-table for his decision
Ultra talented Fort Worth Dunbar wide out Darius White has seen his recruitment really heat up in the past month. Many thought he was an Oklahoma lean until he contacted the Texas staff and took an official visit to Austin the weekend before Thanksgiving. Now White has confirmed he will head to Stillwater this weekend to take an official visit to Oklahoma State.
"It's always been the same with me," said White. "My top three have always been Texas, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.
"I know (Oklahoma State) is a good school, I just want to go up there and see what all they have to offer."
The 6-4, 203 pound product of Fort Worth Dunbar has a busy few weeks ahead of him with his visit to Stillwater, basketball games and the Under Armour All-American bowl on January 2. White will also have to find time over the holidays to make the all-important decision of which scholarship offer he will accept. One thing he already knows is when he will publicly announce that decision.
"The Under Armour game - that 's when I'm announcing," White said. "I'm for sure going to announce there."
White, who ranks No.5 in the LSR top 100 and No. 26 in the Rivals100, has recently been in contact with Oklahoma State tight ends coach Doug Meacham, and the two were able to set up the upcoming visit. However, the Longhorns and Sooners have also made sure to keep in touch with the speedy playmaker and maintain close relationships.
"I talked to (Texas) coach Cleve Bryant yesterday before my basketball game," White said. "We just basically talked about how my studying has been going and how everything has been going up here. He asked how my family is doing.
"And as a matter of fact, (Oklahoma wide receivers) coach (Jay) Norvell was at my game yesterday but I didn't get a chance to talk to him. But, I did talk to him last Thursday. He was just trying to touch base with me on everything. Just telling me how the school is going and everything, and how they've been spreading the ball around."
The days leading up to the Under Armour bowl will be pivotal for White and his college suitors. The game will attract the eyes of many Longhorns, Sooners, and Cowboys fans that are yearning to gain the commitment of the future star.
"I just need to see what everyone has to offer and then I can make the right decision," White said.
