Lewis excited about being a Spartan
This past weekend Michigan State was able to host one of their top commitments for the class of 2010 on an official visit, safety prospect Isaiah Lewis of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. SpartanMag.com was able to catch up with the 4-star recruit and got some details about the visit.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Lewis is rated the #19 safety in the nation for the class of 2010 and the #5 player overall in Indiana. He committed to Michigan State this summer over a host of offers from teams like Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and Kentucky. Spartanmag.com asked Lewis about his visit.
"I had a great time at Michigan State, he said. I was able to hang out with guys like Dana Dixon, Mylan Hicks and Will Gholston. I am really looking forward to getting up here and playing."
As Spartanmag.com has reported before, Lewis injured his knee this past fall and had to have surgery on it. He hopes to be back to 100% this summer so he can participate in practice and possibly platy this fall
"My knee is doing good," Lewis said. I am progressing fast in my rehab."
Lewis went ton to indicate that he and some of his future teammates spent time with the other recruits that were on campus like Rashad Frazier. No doubt they are hoping that the 6-foot-6, 225-pound defensive end joins them in Green and White.
Lewis will continue to build his knee back up. He has been told by his doctors and therapists that once he is done, the "injured" knee will actually be stronger than the other one. Michigan State coaches have been supportive as well, talking about the speedy recovery Javon Ringer made when he suffered his knee injury during his senior year.
