Kentucky Preview

The two division leaders in the Southeastern Conference will take the floor tonight at Humphrey Coliseum as Mississippi State hosts No. 2 Kentucky at 8 p.m.

Both teams were preseason favorites to win their division and so far have lived up to the billing. Tonight's highly anticipated matchup will feature the league's best offense tangle with the SEC's top defense.

The maroon and white faithful have made 'the Hump' a hostel environment winning 11-straight games there this season and will be vying for their fourth consecutive win over Kentucky. Despite State's recent success, the Wildcats own the series record at 84-20.

The Bulldogs are 17-7 overall and sport a 6-4 league mark following their 85-75 overtime win over Auburn Saturday. Mississippi State is shooting 43.4-percent from the field and averaging 73.3 points per game. They are coming off an SEC-best showing of 11 treys on Saturday and are shooting 36.5-percent behind the arc for the season. They top the conference averaging nine 3-pointers made an outing. MSU continues to lead the league in most defensive categories including scoring defense (62.6), field goal percentage defense (37%), blocked shots (8.2), defensive rebounds (29.9) and defensive rebounding percentage (71%).
