Defense dominates day 6
It was another beautiful day in Corvallis, a perfect day to be in Reser watching some Beaver football. With the sun coming out, the defense decided to come out and strut their stuff as well. Coach Mike Riley let his guys go out and hit each other as the second half of practice was for most part a scrimmage.
The defense was consistently in the backfield, getting to the quarterback and forcing bad throws. Defensive ends Gabe Miller and Taylor Henry, as well as defensive tackles Castro Masaniai and Brennan Olander, were dominant at times throughout practice.
Masaniai could be a bigger Stephen Paea in the making. Speaking of Paea, he kept a rather low profile today as he did not participate in the scrimmage portion of practice.
It wasn't all bad play on the offensive side of the ball as several players stepped up and made plays throughout the scrimmage. Wide receivers Markus Wheaton and Geno Munoz both turned in solid practices, with Wheaton catching every ball thrown his way and Munoz working well in the intermediate passing game.
