Defense continues intensity

UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel was pleased with the performance of the defense, but for the first time during spring ball that the offense didn't take "a step forward", but before the mood turns to doom and gloom, the offense still had their moments as Neuheisel will explain during his question and answer period with the media after practice.

Neuheisel: "This was our first day where I didn't feel like we really took a step forward offensively. It was not what it needed to be. Hopefully, we will respond and come back and have a great day tomorrow.

"Defensively, I felt the intensity and the energy was great. That is an impression. I will look at the film and tell you exactly what I think, but we were sloppy offensively and consequently, we did not improve the way we have been improving on a daily basis to date, but hopefully it will be rectified and we will be after it again tomorrow, but I am still pleased.

"I just talked to the trainer and the he didn't think Eddie Williams was serious. So that is good news. We will know more tomorrow.
