Nix sparks Flashes

Kent State freshman Roosevelt Nix was a big contributor in the Golden Flashes 28-17 victory over Akron on Saturday.

The 6-foot, 240-pound defensive lineman recorded five tackles and 3 1/2 sacks, but it was fourth quarter forced fumble that might have been the biggest play of the game.

Nix knocked the ball free from Akron quarterback Patrick Nicely's hand. KSU linebacker Luke Batton jumped on the loose ball in the end zone for a defensive touchdown, the second of the day for the Golden Flashes.

That score increased Kent State's lead to 28-17 with just 3:08 left in the game.

Through five games, Nix has 19 tackles, including 10 for a loss, and a team-high 6 1/2 sacks.
