In-state RB talks UA visit
Alabama's Junior Day event over the weekend saw the Crimson Tide play host to some of the nation's top junior prospects, including several recent recipients of scholarship offers from Alabama. Florence star Beniquez Brown picked up an Alabama offer earlier this month and this weekend, the multi-talented athlete visited Tuscaloosa and spent some time with the Tide coaching staff.
"It was a very exciting day," said Brown. "We toured the campus and the facilities and then we got a chance to talk to the coaches one on one. I talked to Coach Saban for a while and he talked to me about the tradition at Alabama and the graduation rate they've had since he's been there."
"I am a running back right now but Coach Saban said he could see me really succeeding as a safety at the next level. I'm definitely not locked in on playing running back in college. I'm open to anything and I definitely want to go somewhere where my talents will be recognized and I can be coached up to be the best overall football player I can be."
"Later I hung out with Reggie Ragland for a while. He and I have hung out a few times and we know each other pretty well. He was really talking to a lot of guys there, it seemed like he knew everybody. He was telling several guys, including me, that he really wants to see all the best players in the state playing somewhere together. He's big on that idea."
Brown said he is nowhere close to making his final decision yet and plans on doing plenty of traveling this spring to help gather more information about the schools he's currently involved with.
"Right now I'm keeping my options open. I'm going to visit Tennessee next week and then I'm taking visits to Mississippi State and Auburn at some point this spring. I've got a lot to learn before I'm ready to make a decision."
