For the second straight weekend the Ohio State coaching staff has extended a verbal offer to a big time in-state prospect. This weekend, it was Upper Arlington (Ohio) athlete Frank Epitropoulos. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect is one of the most versatile athletes in Ohio as he excels at a multitude of
positions including safety, wide receiver, and punter. Epitropoulos was pleasantly surprised by the news that he would be the next Ohio prospect to receive an offer.

"I was actually pretty surprised, I didn't see it coming," Epitropoulos explained. "I was really excited. I've lived here my whole life and I've always been a Buckeye fan. My parents both went there, I was pretty excited overall."

The trip to Ohio State gave Epitropoulos an opportunity to familiarize himself with the coaching staff.

"Coach Luek Fickell took me in and talked to me a little bit," he explained. "It was one of the first times we had talked. Then he had me talk to the receivers coach and the defensive backs coach and then they took me into coach Jim Tressel's office and that's when they told me they were going to offer me."

The offer from Ohio State comes as an athlete and surprisingly enough, could even see Epitropoulos pulling some double duty if he ultimately chose to stay in Columbus.

"They said they didn't know what position they wanted me at so that (the offer) is as an athlete," he explained. "They said once you come in you can decide if you want to play free safety or wide receiver. They also asked me if I was willing to punt along with one of those positions."

Epitropoulos has serious family ties to Ohio State as both his Dad, John Epitropoulos, and Uncle, Ernie Epitropoulos played for the Buckeyes.

"It's definitely been an interesting experience," said Epitropoulos of the recruiting process. "I think I'm handling it pretty well. It's something that doesn't happen every day so you just have to enjoy it while it lasts."

While Epitropoulos was clearly excited by the Ohio State offer, he's also considering a few other schools from the Big Ten and is hoping to make unofficial visits to those schools in the very near future.

"I don't really have an official list," he said. "I'm scheduled to go to Michigan State next weekend, they would be on my list and I'm also trying to go to Wisconsin, they would also be on my list. I'm hoping to go there in early April."

Another school that Epitropoulos is considering is West Virginia, and he was in Morgantown yesterday on an unofficial visit.

"It was good," he said. "I talked to the coaches and they treated me well there, I liked it overall."

The offer to Epitropoulos is the fourth one to go out to a Central Ohio area player in the 2012 class. The other three are committed prospects; Warren Ball (DeSales), Josh Perry (Olentangy), and Jacoby Boren (Pickerington Central).
