Cincy Moeller Jr. QB excited about MSU

Archbishop Moeller High School has been very good to Michigan State University the past few years. Between linebacker Greg Jones and defensive end Marcus Rush that Spartans have gotten two high quality players from there. In 2013 they will be looking at quarterback Ricky Davis from this outstanding prep program.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Davis is already on the radar of numerous teams. He is one of a select few class of 2013 signal-callers that already holds multiple scholarship offers. asked Davis about the schools that have offered and the ones he is hearing from the most at this point in his recruitment.

"I have many schools showing interest in me and I've been invited to attend games from Wisconsin, Tennessee, Michigan State, Iowa, Northwestern, Kentucky, and Cincinnati," Davis said. "I hope to visit most of them. I currently have scholarship offers from Akron and Bowling Green."

The early interest by so many programs has not caused Davis to rest on his laurels. If anything, it has caused him to work harder to improve as a player. It doesn't hurt that he knows that he has to be on his game every day at a program like Archbishop Moeller. Davis talked about that fact and his thoughts on Michigan State University.

"It is very humbling to see the colleges that I've envied for years so interested in me," he said. "I have never had the privilege to attend Michigan State University, but it is something that would be an absolute dream to experience. I have envied the Spartans since I was a young kid watching them on the television. All the attention is very exciting, but now that the season has started I have put more of my focus on my high school team and getting better each and every day."

Michigan State University has a good name around Moeller High School when you consider that Greg Jones was an All-American and Marcus Rush has a chance to be a 4-year starter for the Spartans. We asked Davis if he has had any contact with either of them?

"I had always read about Greg in the newspaper, but never got to see him play live. Marcus however, was a senior when I was just coming into Moeller High School as a freshman. So seeing him in the weight room and on Friday nights was a great motivation. He was the guy you could tell was a special kind of athlete."

Moeller High is off to a 2-0 start this fall and they will likely be a force to be reckoned as the season progresses. As many Michigan State fans certainly know, Davis has a top notch target to throw to in wide receiver Monty Madaris. asked Davis about his strength as a player and what he is focusing on as far as improvement.

"My strengths would be a strong arm and making the right decisions to move the ball down the field," he said. "I try to be a good leader on and off the field as well."

Michigan State likes to get an early jump on quarterback recruiting. The last few years they have identified select prospects early on as recruits they plan on making a top priority. will be sure to keep in contact with Davis in the coming weeks. The Michigan State staff will certainly be evaluating his and he could be on the short list of player they want to extend an offer to.
