Spurrier talking Mississippi State

Steve Spurrier has had his share of success against Mississippi State over the years.

The 'Old Ball Coach' is 6-2 overall against the Bulldogs but just 2-2 in contests at Davis Wade Stadium. Since taking the job at South Carolina, Spurrier is 2-0 against MSU including a 15-0 win in Starkville back in 2006.

"Mississippi State is 3-3," Spurrier said. "They talked about trying to win the (SEC) West this year. They talked about going to Atlanta to play for the SEC Championship. Now they're talking about getting to a January bowl game. They still think they have a good team. They just haven't played well yet. They're going to be tough and ready to play."

Two of Spurrier's last three meetings against the Bulldogs have resulted in shutouts outscoring State 105-21 during that span. But Spurrier has never faced off against Dan Mullen as a head coach. The two met four times while Mullen was the offensive coordinator at Florida going 3-1 against the Gamecocks.
