Orange offer Empire State RB

Staten Island (N.Y.) Totenville running back Augustus Edwards held three scholarship offers at the beginning of last week, but the week ended with four offers. That fourth offer came from Syracuse.

"Syracuse came in an offered me last Wednesday," Edwards said. "I was excited. It is definitely one of the schools that I have high interest in. I think they are trying to really build a winning team and I think highly of them."

A visit to Syracuse was supposed to happen this month, but with some changes in plans it will be a little bit later than expected.

"I plan on taking a visit. I was supposed to take a visit this month, but something happened and it was canceled. I will be going to their next junior day though."

In the recruiting class of 2012 Syracuse brought in one of Edwards old teammates Alvin Cornelius and that could have an impact on his college decision.

"It is kind of hard for it not to have an impact because I love playing with that guy. At the end of the day though I have to do what is best for me."

While Cornelius was being recruited by the Orange he would tell Edwards al about it.

"He told me that it was great and that he believes in what the coaches are trying to do. He said it was just the right place for him."

Other than Syracuse there are a few others schools that have taken note of the skill set Edwards has.

"I just talked to a coach from Central Florida and they want to start recruiting me. Other than that I have offers from Connecticut, Vanderbilt, Syracuse, and Rutgers."

When it comes to his on field play the Empire State product feels that he has a great combination of skills that make him a solid back.

"I think when it comes to my game on the field I have both speed and power."

A decision from Edwards could come at anytime and it will come down to the school he feels most comfortable with.

"It is going to be a case of once I am sure of a school then why not pick them."
