Notebook: VU celebrates title, looks towards NCAAs

Vanderbilt beat a Kentucky team that hadn't lost a Southeastern Conference game all season to win the Southeastern Conference Tournament in New Orleans on Sunday. Later in the afternoon, VU learned it would play Harvard in the NCAA Tournament this Saturday. Vanderbilt held a press conference late Sunday evening to discuss both, and's Chris Lee brings you all the details on that.

Jeffery Taylor said that he and his teammates slept most of the plane ride back from New Orleans, but the Commodores sure didn't sleepwalk while they were there, turning in one of the more impressive performances in college basketball this season by knocking off a Kentucky team that had won 24 in a row.

The same bunch that slept on the plane looked well-rested and excited coming off the bus once it got on campus. Lance Goulbourne led a parade of players off the bus, holding the championship trophy high above his heads as hundreds of fans gathered to cheer them on.

Players were wearing championship hats, and Goulbourne sported a t-shirt as well, and didn't plan on taking it off soon.

"I'll be wearing these around everywhere when I go to class. I'll be wearing this shirt around even though it's nasty," he said.
