Day 9 rewind: focus on the trenches

With Coach Riley gone to tend to family matters, Coach Banker was left in charge and followed the same script for practice as normal. The other big piece of news was the departure of four OSU players; LS Troy Whalen, LB Kyle Egan, TE Austin Slade-Matautia LB Shiloah Te'o. None of the four were on scholarship and Te'o was realistically the only one who would have contributed this season.

There was good news, Castro Masaniai was in shells and part-took in all non-team drills, banging heads with offensive lineman, more on the D-tackles later. Storm Woods and Mishawn Cummings were the only two Beavers who weren't full participants (of course other than those expected to be out) but did have shells on as well.

Leadership has been brought into question lately and Colin Kelly stepped up at one point, calling Michael Philipp out when he was walking from drill to drill "Why you always the last one?" Philipp then jogged past Roman Sapolu and asked him "Why you always the last one?" The trio laughed as they headed to 1-on-1 drills.
