Redshirt Review: Rahim Cassell
Most players on any college football team redshirt during freshmen season. This means a year of scout team and no travel. At the same time, those players have a year to learn the system, playbook and how to live away from home.
For Oregon fans, little is known about the most recent crop of players who redshirted because all practices have been closed to the public and media for the last year. In order to give Duck fans an insight into these young athletes, Duck Sports Authority continues its 2012 Redshirt Review series with analysis of outside linebacker Rahim Cassell.
Cassell starred at Lakewood high school in Lakewood, California before sending his letter of intent to Oregon. The 6-foot, 220-pound athlete was ranked as the No. 60 OLB in the country and the No. 85 player in the State of California.
With 14 D-1 scholarship offers as a high school senior, Cassell trimmed his list down to Arizona State and Oregon before picking the Ducks in September, 2010, about four months prior to National letter-of-intent day.
