Harris ready for boos in high-stakes homecoming

McDonald's All-American Gary Harris drew heavy criticism from passionate in-state basketball fans after he selected Michigan State over Indiana and Purdue as a senior at Hamilton (Ind.) Southeastern last November.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Spartan freshman expects more of the same when he returns to his home state this weekend for a Big Ten showdown between No. 11 ranked Michigan State and No. 7 ranked Indiana.

"They (IU) fans say they hate you, say they didn't want you," said Harris. "That's just how it is sometimes. And when I got Mr. Basketball, they thought Yogi deserved it since he was staying in-state and I was a traitor for going out of state. It's just their opinions. What happens happens. You can't go back and change anything now.

"It's crazy.

"They (my family) are probably going to be getting just as much of it as me because they know who my parents are down there. It's going to definitely be interesting, Sunday."
