Sooners Coaches Returning to Ohio Roots?

For a coaching staff loaded with products of the Ohio high school football ranks the Sooners presence in the Buckeye state has been largely absent during Bob Stoops' tenure. And even during Ohio native Tim Kish's conversation with his most recent linebacker offer Tegray Scales he acknowledged how rarely Oklahoma ventures into Ohio.

The Cincinnati Colerain three-star linebacker said he wasn't aware of Oklahoma's lacking presence but did like to hear that he was one of the few from Ohio to hold an Oklahoma offer in recent years.

"I talked to coach Kish and he said they haven't been recruiting the area that hard and they watched my film and they liked it and the coaches had nothing but good things to say about it," Scales said. "He told me that they mostly played out here and some coached here. It doesn't bother me at all that Oklahoma doesn't have a lot of Ohio guys though. I didn't look into that at all. I had the offer and I'm excited and I'm not worried about Ohio guys or not."
