Richardson Cuts List
Malachi Richardson has proven himself to be one of the top perimeter marksmen in the class of 2015. The Roselle (NJ) Catholic shooter has a bunch of scholarship offers and attention from many of the nation's top programs and he has officially cut his list. THI spoke with Richardson.
"I think I had a pretty good base on who I wanted to really recruit me, so I trimmed the list," said Richardson in response to why he made the cut.
Georgetown, Syracuse, North Carolina, Indiana, Kansas, Arizona, Ohio State, UConn, Florida, Villanova, Rutgers and Miami will be the schools that Richardson will consider going forward.
Of the 12 programs, ten of them have offered full-scholarships, only the Tar Heels and Jayhawks remain on the list without offering.
The long-armed sniper says that the UNC staff, mainly Hubert Davis, stays in consistent contact and he wants to make a trip to Chapel Hill in the coming months.
"I know they watched me a couple of times this summer and they stay in contact with me. I'm just waiting to go on a visit," he said.
Richardson had a pretty nagging wrist injury through most of the spring and early summer that kept him on the sidelines, at many Nike EYBL events and the NBA Top 100 camp, but the scorer got on the floor with Team Final towards the end of the circuit.
And when he was on the floor, he made an impact, shooting threes, dishing assists and making plays with his high basketball IQ and ability to put up points in a hurry.
" I would say that I had a pretty good summer. I picked up a couple of new offers and my AAU team had a very successful summer. We made it to the final four at Peach Ham and at the Super Showcase in Florida," he added.
On a personal note, Richardson feels he has improved in several areas as well.
"I've become a more complete player, he said to TarHeelIllustrated.com. "My ball-handling has improved and my ball defense and rebounding has gotten better," he said.
