Powell enjoys visit to UNC

Ahoskie, N.C., Hertford County's Tydreke Powell was one of several outstanding recruits that visited Chapel Hill this past Saturday and took in UNC's Spring Game. Two of his teammates -- Danny Dembry and LaMarcus Jenkins -- fellow Division I recruits who have strong interest from North Carolina - joined him as did his head coach.

"I took them all down there," Hertford County coach Greg Watford said. "Tydreke seemed to enjoy himself."

All three also attended North Carolina State's Spring Game later in the day.

"They are all in the evaluating process right now," Watford said. "There all are open and have options."

Powell, a 6-3, 295-pound defensive tackle, has the most choices.

"He's up to 20-25 offers now," Watford said.

"Where we live you either grow up a fan of North Carolina or North Carolina State. He grew up a fan of Carolina. He's always liked the Tar Heels. They are still the favorite."
