Broyles leads charge of Sooner prospects

College Station, Texas - Last spring Gerald McCoy started his ascent into the elite of the nation's top high school football players by tearing up last year's TCU Nike camp in Ft. Worth. Many onlookers stood stunned as McCoy wasn't awarded with the camp's defensive MVP after dominating each and every offensive linemen in the camp.

After McCoy's notice picked up, class of 2007 cornerback Ryan Broyles began to ask 'how can I get attention like Gerald?' In time he has closely followed the steps that took McCoy from an unknown commodity at Southeast High School in Oklahoma City, all the way to the nation's No. 4 prospect.

Well, on Saturday Broyles one-upped the player he had wanted to emulate, as he was named the camp's defensive MVP over players like Beaumont (Texas) Westbrook defensive end Jacody Coleman, Piedmont, Okla., defensive back Sir Demarco Bledsoe, Plano (Texas) West defensive end Ben Bass, and Desoto, Texas defensive end Von Miller.
