Newton on NIKE and recruiting

The NIKE Training Camp has come and gone from Athens, but the news keeps on rolling along. Following the camp, UGASports LIVE spoke with several top prospects who were on the University of Georgia campus. Here is a transcript of what Westlake High School quarterback Cameron Newton had to say about the camp, preparing for his senior season, and a little bit on recruiting.

UGASports LIVE: You picked up two big scholarship offers this week. Fill us in on who has offered you so far.

Newton: "I have five offers. One from Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, Virginia, Georgia Tech and LSU."

UGASports LIVE: What other teams have shown strong interested but have not offered yet?

Newton: "Auburn and South Carolina, but it is hard to say right now because there are a lot of schools coming down to my school."

UGASports LIVE: You had some trouble at the Atlanta Elite 11 camp, what happened?

Newton: "A freak accident happened. I was coming up to the line and the next thing I know my contact comes out. I tried to find it to put it back on but I could not find it. It was like I was looking cross-eyed out there."
