Allen clears hurdle, ready for another

Last weekend Armando Allen posted a 13.86-second time in the 110-meter high hurdles to earn the Class 4A state championship.

Winning a state title represents just one of the hurdles that the 5-foot-9, 181-pound running back from Miami Lakes High School in Hialeah, Fla., hopes to clear.

Allen's next challenge is to prepare himself to graduate from high school in December and enroll in the college of his choice next January.

"I'm going to graduate early if I'm approved by the Clearinghouse," Allen said. "If I am, I'd have to make an earlier decision."
