Gilchrist Emerging as Elite Prospect

With college football coaches having been out on the road for the better part of the last month, recruiting targets for individual programs are starting to shape up. Additionally, based off where a lot of those coaches keep showing up, you can begin to identify some of the nation's top prospects. One of those is starting to look like North Carolina defensive back Marcus Gilchrist, who is rising high on the wish-list of lots of those traveling coaches.

Gilchrist (5-foot-11, 175 pounds, 4.45 40-yard dash), from High Point, N.C. has seen a steady parade of recruiters stop by his high school this spring. He was already holding numerous offers when the spring began, but any doubts about his status as an elite prospect should have been erased by the steady stream of well-known coaches who kept popping up at the high school.

Coaches from Tennessee, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Southern Cal, South Carolina, Southern Cal, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Clemson visited and have offered scholarships.
