Upstate athlete will attend Clemson Nike Camp
An upstate sleeper may soon emerge from under the radar to join two of his highly touted teammates.
Duncan James F. Byrnes offensive lineman Chad Diehl stands in at just under 6-foot-2, weighing 235 pounds. But in each of the last two years he has also worked as a linebacker, the position he projects for the next level.
Already this spring Diehl has picked up interest from Virginia, Penn State, Michigan State, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Duke and Wake Forest.
He hopes to soon see some of those letters change over to offers. And a good starting point could perhaps be this weekend when he joins teammates Willy Korn and Stanley Hunter in Clemson for its Nike Camp event.
"I'm going to do the best that I can in each and every event, and we'll just see how it plays out from there," Diehl told Tigerillustrated.com in a Sunday night interview. "I've played offensive line and some linebacker since my sophomore season. I'm comfortable playing both positions, and I've improved my speed and quickness. Last week coach (Bobby) Bentley hand-timed me at 4.61. Hopefully I'll do even better at the Nike Camp."
